Sunset walk

Zuri and I go on a daily walk.  Usually along the boardwalk by our house. I love it becuase it is right by the ocean and literally right out our front door.   We typically go anywhere from 2-5 miles a day.  Sometimes it is just the two of us, sometimes it is the three of us, (when Chris comes) and sometimes we go with a few friends.

This particular time we went with a couple of our interns Lexie (left) and Cami (right).  We timed it perfectly to get some great pics of sunset.
There were a bunch of these jellyfish all washed up on the beach. Kinda cool.  Cami and I had a few laughs trying to convince Lexie to touch them.

Hundreds of Butterflies

Ok good news.  I finally ordered and received the adapter I need to transfer pictures from my camera to my laptop.
So I have some catchup to do.
Chris and I finally went to the Butterfly conservatory here is Key West.  I say finally because we have lived here for over a year now and it has been on our list the whole time.  But we went so now we can check it off.   I love that I was able to convince him to get in this butterfly face pic with me.  So cheesy, touristy, and childish.  Sorta suits us.

Inside the conservatory is gorgeous.  Its a big green house with birds, fish, and hundreds of butterflies

It was peaceful, beautiful, interesting, and educational.  I would recomend going to anyone who hasn't yet.

Maintaining a Healthy Level of Insanity

Haha! Ok so one of the local ladies that works for me brought in this e-mail she had recieved.  I don't usually post these but I thought some of these were just to funny not to share.  Enjoy!

To Maintain A Healthy Level of Insanity

1. At lunchtime sit in your parked car with sunglasses on and point a hair dryer at passing cars... see if they slow down.

2.  Page yourself over the intercom... and Don't disguise your voice.

3.  Everytime someone asks you to do something, ask "Do you want fries with that?"

4. In the memo field for all your checks write For Marijuana.

5. Skip down the hall rather than walk and see how many looks you get.

6.  Order a Diet Water whenever you go out to eat with a serious face.

7.  Specify that your order at the drive through is "To Go"

8.  Sing along at the Opera

9.  Five days in advance tell your friends you can't attend there party because you have a headache.

10.  When money comes out of the ATM scream "I WON! I WON!"

11.  When your leaving the Zoo start running towards the parking lot screaming, "Run for your Lives! There Loose!"

12.  Tell your children over dinner, "Due to the Economy we are going to have to let one of you go."

And the final way to keep a healthy level of insanity...

13.  Pick up a box of condoms at the Pharmacy, go to the counter and ask where the fitting room is.

A one night stand.

Part of the Christmas I gifted Chris this year were tickets to the Miami Heat vs Cleavland Cavaliers Basketball game.  The game was this past Monday night and we made a little over-nighter out of it.  We left Monday morning and began the drive up the keys.  We stopped and ate lunch at a great authentic Mexican restaurant along the way.  I love eating at the various local restaurants and cafes along Highway 1.  There are quite a few and they are all really good.

We had a few hours to kill before we had to be at the game so we decided to go to a real shopping mall.  Now this may NOT seem like big deal to most but in Key West the shopping is very limited.  So this was a real treat for me.  We went to Aventura Mall in Hollywood, FL.  I have never been to this mall before but it is grand.  In two aspects of the word.  It is big and it is awesome.

Chris caught a movie while I shopped.  This was so nice for one particular reason. I could spend as much time as a wanted in any store I wanted.  When I shop I take the term "looking" to the next level.  I like to look through the entire store, scouring the sales racks, and then try a billion different items on.  Pretty much everything I think is cute, I like to try on, whether I really think I will buy it or not.  For this reason Chris can become pretty impatient with me fairly quickly, so it is best for us not to go shopping together, unless it is for a specific item.

I ended up spending most of my time and money in these two amazing stores.

Yep, I am kinda in love with this place. I mean... before you walk in they have you with their incredibly innovative and fresh displays. Then step inside and its like playground for the senses.  The smell of the candles they burn is intoxicating, then there is the feel of the soft and cozy fabrics on all the gorgeous clothes.  Heaven!  Its like having a huge fat crush on the star football player in high school. He looks so hot, and smells so good and he may even throw a glance and a smile your way with those big dreamy eyes and shining white teeth, as you pass him in the hall..... but he is kinda unattainable.

At least that is how I feel sometimes when I am at Anthro... a dreamy crush world...until I look at the price tags... alas the sale rack awaits.  My wallet and husband thank you.

This is my newest love affair... sorry Anthro.  I have only collected a few items so far, some of which were acquired on our most recent rendezvous  Walking into Lululemon, you feel transformed. Here's a store that has everything athletic wear (minus shoes) for the healthy lifestyler. The store is generally small, but it's sufficient. The woman's side takes up 2/3 of the space and the rest is for the men and changing room. Very reflective of our human lifestyle.
There are many sizes, fits, and models to choose from and there clothes make every body shape look good.  Where can you get a skirt created for the daily runner? No where. Talk about emphasizing the woman's body while giving her strength and flexibility. I like how they get us.  The cost is the big clencher, its a bit over the top, and this stuff rarely ever/never goes on sale but you get both quality and style.  And in the end you just gotta bite the bullet... at least I did.... multiple times.  Eeek!

After my two erotic life altering experiences in two of my favorite stores Chris was out of the movie and it was time to leave for the game.  The Heat Won... big surprise there... and we were off to our hotel, but first we had to sneak a peak at the new Del Sol that just opened up at the Bayside mall right next to the stadium.  It is a cute store and I think it is in a decent location.

We have found this great new feature on Expedia for booking last minute deals on hotel rooms.  Expedia does this unpublished hotel rates.  They give you all the info. for the hotel, the amenities, the approximate location, and the star quality, but they don't give you the name of the actual hotel until after you book.  We were a little bit worried about this at first but after trying it twice now and having tremendous success we will probably always book our hotels stays this way.  We stayed at the Hyatt Suites with full kitchen, king size bed, flat screen TV, and hot continental breakfast for $69.  Hard to beat!

The next morning I got my hair done.  Yay!  Finally, it had been a while... a long while. But I haven't found anywhere in Key West that I liked enough to pay there ridiculous prices.  I broke down and got my hair done down here in Key West last time.  I paid the most I have ever paid to keep up this high maintenance blondieness I have right now, and literally cried when I got home.  I was not happy with the outcome.   So I booked my appointment at the Aveda institute when I bought the Heat tickets and told myself I would have to wait out the couple extra weeks longer than usual to get my hair done the way I like with a price I like.

Totally worth it.

Then we ate at the beloved...

the last indulgence of the trip... and headed home.

It was a wonderful little one night stand.
