Pumpkin Pandemonium

Last Sunday Pier 39 (where our store is located) had a big Halloween celebration. They called it the WICKED Pumpkin Pandemonium. There were tons activities going on all day, and kids could come trick-or-treating at all the participating stores.  So of course we were involved.   Kiera, Adaline and I got together and made Halloween decore for the store including painting these fun pumpkins.

All of us girls went shopping at some of the local thift shops and put together these creative custumes.

Our store was asked to offer Free Nail Polish Paintings at a booth in the front of the Pier.  We had a great turnout.  There was a constant line of adorable little girls all waiting to get there nails painted by Mulan or Peter Pan.  We were asked all day if people could get their picture taken with us.  It was the funest day of work ever.  I love my job!

Half Moon Bay

This is Half Moon Bay.  We spent the day here on our day off last week.  It was a really pretty drive all along the coast.

We walked around the downtown strip.  It was full of really cute and unique shops.

This was in a really neat antique shop.  Thay had everything. Chris had the camera and he went a little crazy following me around taking pictures of me everywhere.  I felt like I had my own personal papaprazzi. Some the pics are pretty funny and really random.

Experimenting with Hair

Yesterday after our weekly team meeting Kiera, Adaline and I decided to go to the farmers market.  On the way we saw this fun wig store.  We decided we better check it out.

Academy of Science

Remember a few posts ago in September, I wrote how Kiera and I had come to the Golden Gate Park to go to a museum because we thought it was free on that particular day.  Unfortunately, it ended up being the right day just the wrong month.  Well this time we went on the right day of the right month so we got in for free.  We went to the Academy of Science Museum.  It is a really neat museum.

The first section we went to was all about Charles Darwin and the Galapagos islands.  Thats where these turtles are from.  Aren't they so cute?  I decided I really need and should get a pet turtle. 

The muesum went from Galapagos Islands to Madagascar to these cute adorable peguins!  They were sort of randomly placed  in there. Then you walked through an African safari.

Next we went to a lecture on Snakes.  They showed us several different types of snakes and talked about the similarities and differences between them.  Did you know some snakes actually give live young?  I didn't, I thought they all laid eggs.  Pretty Interesting Stuff!

After the lecture we got to pet this beautiful Boa and get our picture taken with him.

Up on the top of the building is the "living roof."  It is a huge garden about 2 and a half acres, that covers the entire roof.  The little silver circles that you see are skylights.  There is an entire section of the museum that talks about going green and explains all the "green" elements of this building.  For example, the insulation of the building was made from blue jean scrapes.  Again Pretty Interesting stuff.

In the middle of the buiding there is a rainforest/green house.  I should have taken a picture of it because it doesn't really make sense trying to explain it.  Anyway, inside the rainforest there was tons of flowers and plants.  This flower was really neat because it actaully eats live insects.  They fly in the middle or sit on the edge and the flower snaps the top down and digests the little buger.

There were also tons of birds and butterflies flying freely all over the rainforest section. 

Once you get to the top of the rainforest you take an elevator down to the amazon.  This building is really so cool.  So this picture above shows how you can see up from the amazon, through the aquarium where the those huge fish are, up to the rainforest where we just were. Then all the way up to the ceiling where the skylights are.  That probably doesn't make a whole lot of sense but take my word for it, it was cool.

From the amazon you walk into a full on aquarium.  The aquarium was so extensive we spent a total of just under five hours at this museum and we only had time to get through like a 1/4 of the aquarium part.  We went to a dive talk where a diver goes down to the aqaurium, talks and anwsers questions about the fish and coral.  I thought all these fish were beautiful.

This was the scariest sea creature of all.  A pokadot el. I would be pretty freaked out if he was swimming next to me.

After the aquarium we went to the swamps where we saw this albino alligator.  I know what your thinking, "he doesn't even look real," right, but I took a video of him just to prove he was defintely real and very much alive.  Unfortunately, blogger isn't letting me upload my video.  So a picture will have to do.  If anyone knows why I can't upload my video or has had a similar problem please leave a comment.  I could really use some help with this.  Turns out albino alligators are very rare and there are approximately only 50 of them in the world.  It is more likely for a alibin human to be born than an albino aligator.  Pretty Interesting Stuff. 

To finish off the muesum we went to a Planatarium Show.  This was a really neat show narrated by Whoopi Goldberg.  She told the story of how the very first star was formed billions of years ago and how the galaxy we have now formed.  Then finished with our night sky and what constallations and special stars we could see tonight.  We had a really great time.  I am so glad we got in free but if I had paid the $24 to get it in, it would have been money well spent and worth very cent. 

There is always so much going on at Golden Gate Park.  As we were leaving the museum there were all these people gathered at a festival, listening to live music.

Then as we were walking to the bus there was circle of people practing tricks on there bikes.  Again I got a pretty cool video but blogger wouldn't let me upload it. 

Our first 49ers Game!!

The 49ers are Chris's favorite Pro. football team.  This was his first time to see them play at home.  It was my first time to go to a pro football game.  We were pretty exctied.  Chris bought a 49ers jersy and sweatshirt so he could support his team. 

There was a parade getting ready to start on the street where we live. We didn't realize this was going on and they had closed off the streets, so we waited and waited but our bus never came. We decided we better bite the bullet and drive so we didn't miss the game. Parking was so ridiculous and expensive, but thirty minutes and thirty dollars later we were there and parked.

 

The game was fun; except for  1.) a group of about 5 obnoxious guys who were incoherently drunk and sitting in the row behind us.  Especially the guy sitting directly behind me.  He kept yelling, he thought he was talking but it sounded like he was yelling right in my ear.  Not only that but he would yell the same thing over and over again.   I was getting so annoyed.  They finally got bored and left just before half time.  The lady next to me screamed with relief " YES they are gone".   Haha!  At least I knew I wasn't the only one who was about to lose it.   2.)  The 4ers stunk!  They played awful.  They have a horrible offense and their quaterback sucks.  Chris said their Running Back is really good and pretty much carries the offensive line.  He was injured and was out of the game.  Hopefully he is back playing when we go to the next home game in November.

 

Busy Busy

Oooops!  So a lot has been going on lately but unfortunately I didn't take any pictures to document it.  So I apologize for the long words only post.   Chris's Dad Kurt was here a little over a week ago.  They had some great father and son time.  They went to the Chargers and Raiders game in Oakland.  Chris said Oakland fans are the craziest fans that he has ever been around.  They went golfing in which Chris proceeded to blow a four shot lead on the last hole to lose to his dad.  Kurt was the visitor so Chris couldn't send him home after losing at golf.  So he claims he let Kurt win.  It was a fun trip and they had some great weather. 


Last weekend my mother was here.  It was great to have some mother daughter time.  We walked around fisherman's warf, bought some nock off designer purses and sunglases, and went to the wax museum. Towards the end of the museum there was an electric chair.  I sat in it first, the chair started to vibrate and then to shake.  There is a mirror right in front of you, it turns black, then a ugly demon appears with red eyes, and then the chair shoots a gust of air down your back.  I screamed.  We both laughed.  Then my mom sat in the chair, she didn't want to at first because she thought the chair shocked you.  I coaxed her into it.  When the air shot out she screamed and all her long hair blew up and over her head.   It was so funny.  I am so mad I didn't get it on video.  It still makes me laugh as I am writing about it.   We went out to dinner, saw a couple movies and attended the Margret Jenkins Modern Dance Company concert while she was here.  I am so glad she was able to come out and spend some one on one time with me.  We had alot of fun.

This past week Chris and I were able to take a couple of days off together and drive down to Park City, Utah to spend some time with family.   They have a time share and every year we go stay a weekend at the Moutainside Marriot Resort.  I love the beds they are luscious.  On the way there Chris stopped in Wendover "to stetch his legs" he put a twenty in the Wheel of Fortune, that is his lucky slot machine.  Turns out it was lucky he ended up winning $400.   It was great to spend time with family and see the newest addition to our family a baby neice Hazel Hope.  Although we loved being with family, it was snowing and freezing cold while we were there.  We were ready to get back to Califormia and the warmer weather.
