Some good and some not so good

Hmmm, where to begin... last week was eventful in a not expected sort of way.   My friend Kiera (she is currently working for us) found out about a free day for the Acadamy of Science Museum.  It was free for locals with our zip code the 16, 17 , 18.  We were pretty excited about this, we got up early, and rode the bus down to the Golden Gate Park.  When we arrived at the Museum we went up to the admission both and presented our ID and proof of address. The lady looked puzzled, she informed us it was not free, and that admission was $25.  We argued that we read on the website that the 16, 17, 18 were free to locals with our zipcode.  She then told us that it was for the 16, 17, 18 of October and it was currently still September.  Hahaha!  We felt pretty stupid.   Needless to say we already marked the calender to come back next month.    

We still had a fun day walking around the park, we went to the Japenese Tea Gardens, the Flower Conservatory, and stow lake.  I absolutely love the Golden Gate Park.  It is gigantic and there is so much to do and see.  It is simply beautiful and tranquil. 

Friday night was just a night gone wrong.  In short, we went to see a dance concert in the getto of gettos. Chris didn't eat before so he was in a foul mood and we ended up leaving at intermission because he was going to die of hunger.  It took us an hour to get home on the bus and I had to sit by the crazziest old man, with a whomping four teeth, who would not stop talking the entire time.

Saturday was much more fun.  I had my first rehearsal for the workshop

I am doing with the Alonzo Kings Lines ballet.  It is so fun and I love the piece we are learning.  The workshop is six weeks with a mini performance at the end.  I will be sure to let you know how it goes when I am done.  It feels so great to be dancing again.  I can't believe how sore I am after every class.   Saturday night Kiera and I went to the Opera in the Ball Park.  Niether of us had ever been to an Opera, so we weren't sure what to expect, but we are both up for trying new things.  I found out I really enjoy Opera.   We had a really fun time sitting under the stars, eating garlic fries, and listening to the Opera.  I think we will try to arttend one in the actual opera house at least once while we are here. 

Sausalito

Across the Golden Gate Bridge there is the cutest little town of Sausalito.

We walked around all the cute shops, boutiques, and art galleries. We got some ice cream and then ventured up even further north to San Rafael for dinner and a movie. It was fun to explore the cute little towns and get out of the city for the day.

The Day of Chris

I have to blog about this event because it is just to funny not to share. Many of you may not have thought of Saturday, September 5 as a particularly special day of the year. Chris, however, has been looking forward to this day for the past 8 months. Friday, the night before he was so excited for what the day beheld he pulled an all nighter. He claimed he was just to excited to sleep. He compared his excitement to a five year old on Christmas Eve. Have you guessed what could possibly be so exciting that you wouldn't be able to sleep the night before.... ThE fIrSt DaY oF cOlLeGe FoOtBaLl!!!! Chris was so happy all day, he kept referring to it as the day of Chris. A day were he was going to sit and watch football all day. I didn't fight it, I couldn't, he was so happy and excited why would I want to ruin that.

SFMOMA

Tuesday was free admission to the SFMOMA (San Francisco Museum of Modern Art). We were pretty excited to go because 1. regular admission is like $20 per person and 2. they currently have a Georgia O'Keeffe and Ansel Adams exhibit. Ansel Adams has tons of famous photographs. The one that really hits home for us is the exquisite photo featuring the Tetons and the same stretch of Snake river Chris would row down everyday the last few summers.

The first time I ever heard of Georgia O'Keeffe was when I spent my springbreak volunteering in New Mexico with Habitat for Humanity. She was featured in all the galleries and I fell in love with her paintings. We really enjoyed the exhibit but some of the modern art was a little to out there for our tastes. As you can see from the picture above Chris was not to enthused at this point or with the particular painting.

We moved apartments this week. We are really loving our new place. It is great to be just a couple blocks from work, plus the place is bigger and the furniture is nicer. We are right in the heart of the city. These next photos were taken as we were walking around getting acquainted with the new neighborhood.
