Hemmingway Days amd 5K run

Street Fair Celebration of Hemingway Days.  There were several different events going on all weekend to celebrate Ernest Hemingway when he lived here in the Keys throughout the 1930's.

I got these adorable earrings.

Mal ran the 5K and won first place in her age group.  She got this cute little plaque as her prize.  We were all very proud of her.  She is a quick one.

We were all there to cheer her on and celebrate her victory with her, plus there was free food.  The best part was the free Chocolate Covered Key Lime Pie on a stick!  Delicious!

A Beautiful Day of Boating

  It was the perfect day for boating; clear sky's, clear water, good friends, and topless Italian women.

 Let me explain the topless Italian women comment. We were out in the water having a good time when this boat pulls up, the water is pretty shallow and the boat got a little stuck.  Our helpful strong men went over to give them a push and as they are walking over the girls start taking off there tops.  They were visiting from Italy and didn't have a clue what they were doing.  It was a slightly funny and extremely awkward time for our good lds men.  (sadly I wasn't able to get any pictures of this event)

4th of July

This is a little late but, it is still July, so here is a post about our 4th of July.  After Snowbird we stayed a few days in Park City with Chris's mom and her side of the family and my mom and brother were able to come stay with us aswell.

We all went to the Stadium of Fire in Provo.

Carrie Underwood was amazing!!  I loved her before, but she is phenomenal live.

The firework show afterwards was pretty spectacular also.

Snowbird- Kohfeld Family Reunion

Every summer The Kohfeld family gets together for a week of fun at Sonwbird.  We were excited to get to go home for a few days and see some family.

 We had a fun playing card games, eating lots of food and swimming at the pool.

Happy Birthday...to me!

My beautiful summer babies made me this amazing cake for my birthday. 

We all got dressed up and went to Latitudes for my birthday dinner.  It is a nice resturant on a private island called Sunset Key.

I was so excited to go to this resturant.  Chris and I had tried to make reservations to eat here on two seperate occasions, we tried to come on Christmas Eve and we tried again to come for our anniversary in May.  Both times it was completely booked.  It had great reviews and had been highly recommended to us by a few of our friends.  We loved the place. 

Sunset Key is a peacful and surreal little island, with gorgeous beaches.

June = Free for Locals

During the month of June there are several activities that offer free admission for locals.  Yay for us!  These activities include: The Harry S. Trumen House, The Pirate Shipwreck Museum, The Conch Train, and The Key West Aquarium.  We got to participate in all four of these free activities.

The Aquarium was my favorite and really the only one I documented.

I got to pet the tail of a Nurse Shark. 

They had a cool hands on section of the aquarium where we were allowed to hold different starfish, crabs, sea urchents, and this amzing conch shell with a live conch inside.  Conch is actually a popular menu item here in the keys.  I can't say that I like it all that much but lots of people do. 

 The aquarium was built in 1934, and was the first tourist attraction in Key West.  It is unique in that it only features turtles, sharks, game and tropical fish that are native to the waters of Key West.  

Great to be a local in June.
