I wish I would have gotten this excitement on video from the beginning. But this will give you an idea of how excited this girl gets to watch Baby Eisenstein. Don't you love the shoulder shimmy dance? Too Cute!

Botanical Gardens
Visiting the Botanical Gardens has been on my to do list. Ayla and I went there as one of our outings last week. Sadly the Orchid exhibit was not in bloom (we were too early Orchids don't bloom till mid June) so instead of lovely blooming orchids we saw a bunch of sticks, but it really is a lovely place to go and walk around and we did see some cool things.
I think it is so funny that Ayla props her leg up on the bar in her stroller. She is a limber little lady.
I am pretty proud of this here picture! The large green fruit is perfectly in focus with nice blurry background.
We saw lots of unique fruit trees and pretty birds.
and a slimy garden snake!
I thought this bench and bridge were so cute.
We also saw a BLUE Iguana. They really are bright blue. There are tons of green iguanas on the island but the blue ones are endangered and very rare to see.

Whats Next....
We are about to embark on a NEW ADVENTURE in the abutting future! Chris has finally formally received and accepted a promotion from Del Sol corp. to be the South Eastern US Regional Sales Director. This is sort of like his dream job, and something he has been aspiring for since we decided to continue on this career path after our initial internship in Kona, Hawaii 4 years ago. The timing of it all is more expedient than we originally anticipated, but we have come to expect that with this company.
The last few days have felt slightly stressful and busy as we try to finalize all our leave dates and make plans to leave this beautiful island we have called home for the past two years behind. But we are very excited to see what the future will have in store for us and feel so blessed that our prayers have been answered and everything seems to be magically working out. Got to love when that happens.
So where are we going?? Despite the hopes of our close family members, we will not be making our way back west yet. We will be relocating to Southern Florida! Somewhere around the Ft. Lauderdale/Broward County area. We are so excited!!! When we lived in Key West, Fl. our regional sales director lived in Ft. Lauderdale and we came up a few times to meet with them. We love the area. It was one those places for us, where you go to visit and it just feel like a place you could call home.
And here is the other BIG news! We are looking to become first time HOME BUYERS!! Woot! I can not begin to describe how excited I am to be in the position to finally own our first home! I have been scouring the real estate market in So. Florida for the past few days and can't wait to get out down there to start viewing some homes. Anyone with experience and tips in first time home buying please oblige us with your wisdom. Fingers crossed that something will work out!

Nautical Stripes and Baby Chicks
After Ayla turned one I wasn't sure if I should keep up our little tradition of doing a photo shoot each month. But it is just so much fun and a good reason to practice shooting my SLR in manual mode so I think I will continue as long as Ayla lets me.
Can you tell it is a struggle to keep that headband on?
phew, finally off and ready to play hide n seek.
Which only means time for a new one. Ha.
Guess who came to say hello during our photoshoot???

Ayla's 1st Year Recap
Truth is I have been meaning to do a recap of Ayla's first year for a while, but all the talk on how she is becoming more and more toddler and less and less baby impelled me to peruse through past baby photos. It is so fun to see how much she has changed and remember the tiny little newborn she once was.

14 months
It is Saturday, we are currently in between conference sessions, the house is quiet both Ayla and Chris are fast asleep. I debated on what I should do with these few spare hours, there are dishes to be done, and laundry that needs to be folded, and work emails that need to be responded to. I thought about going to lay out at the pool, working out, or taking a shower but instead, I lounge on the sofa reading some of my favorite blogs. (A complete weekend of watching conference and vegging out!) I follow some really amazing women through there blogs. They truly do inspire me to be a better mother, wife and person. Which also inspires me to write and update my own blog.
Ayla and I have had a great week together. A week were I treasured all aspects of motherhood. Where I am consistently reminded of how LUCKY I am to be a work from home mother and treasure the blessing it is to stay at home and care for my sweet little bug every single day.
This week has been brutally hot compared to our nice cool weather last week, so the air conditioner has been running full blast and our time outside has been spent mostly by or in the water.
Monday, Chris didn't have to work so we went to breakfast and spent the day together at the beach as a family. A woman near us was feeding the fish corn flakes and there were literally hundreds of them swimming all around us. Ayla was very intrigued by them, watching them closely as they swarmed around us and jumped out of the water to eat the food.
I must say I love when Chris has these 4 day work weeks!
Tuesday, Ayla and I went to the pool. She likes the pool by the clubhouse where it is shallow enough she can stand up and cruise on her own as she holds onto the edge. She also loves to play in the shower by the pool. I can rig it so it will stay on and she will sit and splash and play in it like a fountain.

Wednesday, I took Ayla to splash in the fountains at Camana bay. We didn't make it in time for storytime so we just went after and played in the fountains.
Thursday, Ayla and I met up with our friends the Fransen's at the beach. Ayla loved playing in the sand with Nolan and Jane. Ayla loves, Nolan always wanting to giving him little love pats, similar to how she pets Zuri. It is so cute! They were sitting by each other playing in the sand and everyone that passed by couldn't help but stop to tell us how adorable they both were.
Friday we went to playgroup. Lorna hosted at her house in west bay. I really love our Friday playgroup. It is so nice to get out and visit with friends while the kids all play. All the kids are 3 and under, majority of them are 1-2 years so very close in age to Ayla. She is really starting to interact with other kids now and loves to go and play with all the new toys.
You can tell it is spring cause all the chickens are having babies. There is a momma with 11 newborn babies that hang out right here in our complex so we see them almost every time we go outside. Ayla loves all the chickens. She gets so excited when she sees them, frantically pointing her finger and shouting ba ba ba. I think she is trying to say bawk bawk bawk like the sound the chickens make.
Thursday was April 4th and Ayla turned 14 months. She is turning more and more toddler and less and less baby everyday. Her 5th tooth is coming in so that will make 3 on the bottom and two on top. She likes to jut her bottom teeth out in front of her top teeth giving her an attractive under bite. It is actually really adorable, but we are hoping she grows out of this once she gets more teeth in. Who knew gap tooth grins and under-bites would ever be considered adorable traits? Must be the biased opinion of loving parents.
Ayla is getting braver and more confident with walking. She can take up to 5 steps on her own now. She is very cautious and hates to fall. But I have no doubt that once she gets the confidence she will be a walking pro in no time.
Ayla loves to watch shows. We let her watch a 20 minute Baby Eisenstein show about once or twice a week, usually when I want to get something done and need to keep her occupied and safe. She seriously gets so excited! Her eyes light up and she waves her hands in excitement! I strap her in her highchair and she is glued to the screen.
Ayla also loves to dance! It is so cute! She will bob up and down on her bum and waves her arms side to side. It is the cutest thing ever!
My little bug is really starting thin out, this makes her look a lot more toddler and a lot less baby. My chubby cherub is almost no more. (tear) I am starting to miss the munchy fat rolls on her thighs, her pronounced buda belly, and double chin as they are vanishing right before my eyes.
Ayla will throw little tantrums now and she lets us know when she is NOT happy about something. She is strong willed and does not respond to 'no no" or "don't do that." So Chris and I have tried using the tactic of positive reinforcement. Instead of saying, "Please don't throw your food on the floor." We say, "Can you put the food in your mouth please?" It works! Ayla responds much better when you ask her to do something you want, instead of telling her NOT to do something. She isn't saying any actual words yet besides Momma and Dadda but I am constantly amazed at how much she really does understand.
Ayla has transitioned from two naps to one but continues to be a really great sleeper (10-12 hours straight) and a breeze to put down. Her bedtime routine is; dinner, bath, pajamas, brush teeth, then we give her a bottle lay her in her crib, turn the nighttime music on her singing bunny, tell her we love her and goodnight, and walk out. I know we are going to need to ween her off the bottle at some point, but I am just not ready to mess up this fantastic bedtime routine we have going right now.
