Our 2 year Anniversary!

This year for our 2 year anniversary we took a trip over to Oahu for a couple days. We had so much fun exploring the island together.

We took a tour of Pearl Harbor and saw the submarine, Missouri Battleship, and the Aviation Museum.
The above picture is of the submarine. My favorite part of the tour was the battleship. We explored and walked throughout the entire ship. It was really interesting. The below picture is in the Aviation Museum. They had beautiful wall murals that made awesome backdrops for picture taking.

After exploring Pearl Harbor we headed up north to the Polynesian Cultural Center. This was really neat. We got there just in time for the colorful canoe pageant. The PCC focuses on seven islands and each of them were represented on a canoe by a group of dancers in brightly colored Hawaiian attire.

We went around to the different island presentations and activities. Our favorite island presentation was the Samoa. The host was really funny and entertaining. They showed us how they make fire from rubbing two sticks together, how they crack a coconut and make coconut milk with their bare hands, and how to climb a coconut tree.

There were lots of activities to do. We took a ukulele lesson. Which made me really want to buy a ukulele. Unfortunatly Chris wouldn't let me claiming I would never play it, he was probably right. We participated in a spear throwing contest as demonstrated in the picture above and we learned how to make a fish out of a coconut leaf demonstrated in the picture below.

This is our favorite Samoan. He was quite the character. We kept seeing him and he was always entertaining an audience. We even saw him on T.V the next morning at breakfast.

We went to the IMAX movie which was amazing, it may have been my favorite part. It was all about perserving the coral and took you on an underwater adventure in 3D. Then we went to the Horizon Show. It was awesome! It has over 100 dancers in the show doing every dance from hula to fire dancing.

The next day we spent driving around the island. We went to several beautiful beaches all along the North Shore.

We finished the day swimming at Waikiki Beach, eating dinner and shopping along the Waikiki strip. We had a really great time! It was so fun to get to see Oahu and experiencing another piece of Hawaii. We couldn't believe how different Oahu is from the Big Island. I think we will always be biased and love the big island best because its has been home.
