Chris and I make a conscience effort to go on dates, we shoot for once a week. This isn't very difficult for us right now because we don't have any kids and we often do things together just the two of us. But still it is easy to get caught up in the going ons of the week and without the conscience effort to plan ahead dates can get put on the back burner.
When planning dates we try and follow a few guidelines, 1. We take turns who plans the date. 2. Budget minded (try to keep it $20 or less) 3. Doing something new or different. Side-note: Chris doesn't really follow #3 or #2, but thats alright, it is always fun to do the traditional dinner and a movie.
Last week I planned the date. We went on the Hemingway's house tour. This followed all the guidelines as it was free for locals and we haven't done it before. It was interesting to learn about one of America's most honored and respected Authors and ten plus years he spent living in Key West.
The landscape is beautiful. I love the old homes here in Key West. Hemingway's was no exception to that.
The Ernest Hemingway House and Museum is home to approximately sixty cats. Normal cats have five front toes and four back toes. About half of the cats at the museum are polydactyl, which means they have extra toes.
Ernest Hemingway was given a six-toed cat by a ship's captain and some of the cats who live on the museum grounds are descendants of that original cat.

My favorite feature was this fountain and trough for Cats to drink from. This trough was actually a mens urinal from Sloppy Joe's Bar. Ernest Hemingway brought it home to use as a trough to water the Cats. His wife however wasn't about to have a men's urinal around so she decorated it adding the gorgeous vase and turning it into a fountain and then decorating the urinal with pretty tile.
After Hemingway's we went home and watched Step Up 3 in 3D. Chris got a new TV for Christmas last year. (Yes, sometimes he buys his own gifts.) Anyway, it is actually 3D capable and when we bought it, it came with this special package deal where we got the special 3D glasses and everything. But we haven't ever watched a 3D movie on it. So that was a first. It was cool to watch the movie in 3D, without 3D I don't think I would have cared for the movie much. We rented the 3D movie through ONDEMAND for $6.99.
